We’re proud to announce that Fayssal J. Husseini, PE, PTOE, LEED Green Associate was recognized by The New England Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (NEITE) with a 2020 William P. McNamara Distinguished Service Award. This award recognized Fayssal for outstanding service and contributions to the activities and welfare of NEITE – particularly his role as chairperson for the ITE Thomas Desjardins’ Scholarship Fund, which annually awards two scholarships of $1,500 to graduate and undergraduate students from New England with interest in transportation/traffic engineering.
With 35 years of experience in providing transportation and traffic engineering services, Fayssal serves as Principal, Vice President, and Director of Transportation Engineering here at Nitsch. He is responsible for overseeing the entire transportation engineering department’s day-to-day activity and serves on the firm’s leadership team responsible for key operational issues. His design experience includes highways and roadways, traffic signals and controls, surface parking facilities, airport terminal roadways, and site planning/design. He has managed transportation and traffic engineering work for more than 30 K-12 schools and higher education facilities during his career.
For the past 15 years, Fayssal has been sharing his knowledge and experience as an adjunct professor with the Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) Department at the University of Massachusetts Lowell where he teaches graduate classes in Traffic Engineering, Traffic Management and Controls, and Transportation Planning. He also serves on the CEE Advisory Board. In his free time, he also prioritizes volunteer opportunities to deliver meals to veterans and people in need.
