To support ongoing utility improvements for NSTAR (now Eversource), Nitsch provides land surveying services to support state and local permitting efforts. On one of these projects, we conducted right-of-way retracement of NSTAR’s 118/119 Line for an eight-mile stretch, starting in the Town of Barnstable and ending in the Town of Dennis.
Nitsch performed research at the various Town Halls, Registry of Deeds, and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) offices. We established Global Positioning System (GPS) control throughout, along with traditional traversing between the established GPS points. We also set photo control targets for the eight-mile stretch and other rights-of-way in the immediate area, prepared work sheets identifying recovered right-of-way monumentation, set monumentation at each angle point, and staked the right-of-way limits every 200 feet on both sides.
